New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the first Indian-Central Asia summit in virtual format on January 27, the ministry of external affairs was announced on Wednesday.
The Summit will be held with President Kazakhstan’s participation, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, said MEA in a statement.
This will be the first involvement of its type between India and Central Asian countries at the leader level, he said.
The first Indian-Central Asian summit is a reflection of Indian involvement that develops with Central Asian countries, which is part of the “expanded environment” of India, said MEA.
Prime Minister Modi paid a historic visit to all Central Asian countries in 2015.
Furthermore, there were exchanges at a high level in bilateral and multilateral forums.
Inception of the India-Central Asia dialogue at the Foreign Minister’s level, the third meeting held in New Delhi from December 18-20, 2021, has provided encouragement for Central Indian-Asian relations, said MEA.
The participation of the Secretary of the National Security Council of Central Asian countries in a regional security dialogue in Afghanistan held in New Delhi on November 10, 2021 describes a general regional approach in Afghanistan.
During the first Central India Summit, leaders are expected to discuss steps to advance the relationship between Central India with newer heights, Mea said.
They also expec Ted to exchange views on interesting provincial and international problems, especially the developing regional security situation.
Summit is a symbol of the importance attached by Indian leaders and Central Asian countries for a comprehensive and lasting Indian-Central India partnership, the statement said.
