New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch e-rupe, a person’s specific digital payment solution and destination, on Monday through video conferencing, his office said.
Underbining that Modi always fight for digital initiatives, the Prime Minister’s office said for years, several programs have been launched to ensure that the benefits of achieving beneficiaries referred to in targeted and leaky ways, with limited touch points between the government and the receiver.
The concept of electronic vouchers advances this good vision of governance, he said.
In his statement, PMO said E-Rupi was an instrument without cash and without contact for digital payments.
This is a QR code or e-voucher based on SMS string, which is sent to the recipient’s cellphone, said the statement.
The users of this smooth one-time payment mechanism will be able to redeem vouchers without cards, digital payment applications or internet banking access, at the service provider, he said.
It has been developed by the National Payment Corporation of India on its UPI platform, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and National Health Authority.
The statement said e-rupe connects service sponsors with beneficiaries and service providers by digital without a physical interface.
It also ensures that payments to service providers are made only after the transaction is complete.
Pre-paid in nature is needed, it ensures timely payments to service providers without involvement of each intermediary, the statement said.
PMO said it was expected to be a revolutionary initiative in direction to ensure the provision of leakproof welfare services.

, Even the private sector can utilize this digital voucher as part of the welfare of employees and their corporate social responsibility programs, the statement said.
