New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and put the foundation stone from various projects in Somnath, Gujarat, on August 20 at 11 am through video conferencing.
Projects that will be inaugurated include the Somnath Promenade, Somnath Exhibition Center and Reconstructed Old (Juna) Temple (Juna) Somnath.
The prime minister will also put the Stone Shree Parvati Temple Foundation during the event.
The PMO release said that Somnath Promenade has been developed under the Prashad scheme (Pilgrimage and Spiritual Rejuvenation, Heritage Augmentation Driving) at a cost of more than Rs 47 Crore.
The Somnath exhibition center, which was developed at the location of the ‘tourist facilitation center’, featured an exhibition of the disassembled Somnath Temple and its statues that had a Nagar Style Temple architecture from Old Somnat.
The temple of the reconstructed temple from Old (Juna) Somnath has been completed by Shree Somnath Trust with total expenditure of RS 3.5 Crore.
The temple was also referred to as Ahilyabai temple because it was built by Queen Ahilyabai on Indore when she found that the old temple was in the ruins.
The entire old temple complex has been rebuilt holistically for the safety of pilgrims and with augmented capacity.
Shree Parvati Temple is proposed to be built with a total expenditure of Rs 30 Crore.
This will include the construction of the temple in the style of Sompura prayers, the development of garbha griha and nritya mandap.
The Union News Minister, Union Tourism Minister together with the Chief of Minister and Deputy Minister Gujarat will be present on that occasion.
