New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to Lachit Borphayan, a famous fighters, by saying he widespread remember as the Torchbearer of Valor, honor and extraordinary cultural arrests from Assam.
Assam celebrated Lachit Diawas on November 24 at an Ode to courage and borphayan heroism.
“Today, in Lachit Diwas, I paid tribute to Lachit Borphukan who was brave.
He remembered as a Torchbearer of Valor, honor and an extraordinary arrest of culture from Assam,” Modi said in a tweet.
“He (borphayan) remains committed to the ideals of equality, justice and dignity for all,” Prime Minister said.
Borphukan was a commander in the Kingdom of Ahom Istama and was known for his leadership in 1671 Battle of Saraghat who foiled Mughal Forces’ efforts to arrest Assam.
The battle of Saraghat was fought on the edge of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati.
