New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the first quad leadership summit in the US on September 24 along with President Joe Biden, Australia PM Scott Morrison and Japan PM Yoshihide Suga.
The meeting came in the midst of the installation of global concerns over the flexure of Chinese military muscles in the Indo-Pacific region.
At the meeting, leaders were expected to review the progress carried out since their first virtual summit on March 12 this year and discussed regional issues owned by shares, according to a statement released by the government.
As part of their sustainable efforts to load the Covid-19 pandemic, they will also review the quad vaccine initiative announced in March this year.
“They will also exchange views on contemporary global issues such as critical and emerging technology, connectivity and infrastructure, cyber security, maritime security, humanitarian assistance / disaster assistance, climate change and education.
Summit will provide valuable opportunities for dialogue and interaction.
The leaders, anchored in their shared vision to ensure the indo-Pacific region that is free, open and inclusive, “said the statement.
PM Modi had previously visited the US in September 2019 when former President Donald Trump hosted for the grand ‘Howdy, Modi.
This will be a foreign visit of the second PM Modi this year after a two-day tour of Bangladesh in March.
In March, Biden President had held the first summit of Quad leaders in virtual format.
At the meeting, leaders vowed to fight for the free, open, inclusive, anchored Indo-Pacific region with democratic values, and were not limited by coercion, sending fine messages to China.
In November 2017, India, Japan, the US and Australia gave forms on the old proposal to set a quad to develop a new strategy to keep a critical sea route in Indo-Pacific free from influence.

US officials said those who ended the longest American war would allow administration to divert resources and attention to overcome China’s related problems.
Senator Bill Hagerty, a Republic, and former US Ambassador to Japan, welcomed the plan to host the quad leaders.
“Snapped with withdrawal of Afghanistan Biden makes the Indian environment more dangerous & raises legitimate questions for Japan and Australia too, so it’s good, we will soon host the Quad partner,” he said on Twitter.
“We have to improve & update our alliance, and this one is the key.” PM Modi to overcome Ungaduring US visits, Modi’s Prime Minister was also scheduled to address the general debate about the high-level segment of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on September 25 in New York.
The theme for general debate this year is ‘building resilience through hope to recover from Covid-19, rebuilding on an ongoing basis, responding to the needs of this planet, respecting the rights of people, and revitalizing the United Nations’.
