Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) took a mild attitude towards Covid-19 norm violators on the first day of revised restrictions but officials said the action would increase from Tuesday.
No major action taken against violators restrictions on 4pm which was introduced under the brake of the order order.
Civil officials said that the anti-encroachment department would intensify action from Tuesday.
“Some actions were taken at the ward office level, but there was no big drive carried out on Monday,” said a PMC senior official.
“The anti-encroachment department has established a team to take action against violators.
They have been assigned to monitor the appropriate behavior of Covid,” said Madhav Jagtap, Head of the PMC’s anti-encroachment department.
Civil officials said that the power had been delegated to the police for taking action against violators.
“The shopkeeper is under the constant fear of being fined by the authorities.
Orders from various civil bodies and administrative districts do not have coordination.
This affects the business,” said Sachin Nivangunane, President, Pune District Retailers Association.
PMC officials said 550 staff members had been deployed in a decentralized way under 15 ward offices.
