PMC tells Hompon to keep infra ready for the third wave

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has told private and civil hospitals to keep infrastructure ready to remember the third wave of Covid-19 possible.
The Civic body has planned to store around 25,000 beds in the city area.
PMC officials said written statements had been taken from hospitals about providing beds as needed.
“Maintenance of covid care centers and dedicated Covid hospitals are being examined,” said Senior PMC official Rajendra Muthe.
The Civic body has established 13 Covid care centers during the second wave, which has around 4,700 beds.
In addition, 10 other facilities were developed to provide 4,200 beds.
Civil officials say this facility is currently closed because there is no request for the bed.
In accordance with citizenship officials, the recruitment of labor for this facility will be a problem, if suddenly there is an increase in the case.
Civil administration has provided an extension to several medical staff members, who are working on contracts in civil centers.
But running this facility with full capacity will require additional workers.
Civic data states that around 18,500 beds without oxygen support, 7,500 beds supported by oxygen, 1,100 ICU beds and 850 beds supported by ventilators are available in civilian boundaries during the second wave.
Jumbo hospital at the College of Engineering, Pune will also continue, which has 800 beds.
PMC has also established another Jumbo Hospital in Baner.
“The decision to continue jumbo facilities taken when rebuilding at the last minute will be a difficult task and affair that is very expensive,” said Siddharth Shirole, Mla Shivajinagar.
