Pune: The Civic Body plans to attend Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and offer tax neglect to smaller properties, after the demand from selected members cut party lines and housing communities.
According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) plan, the residence of around 500sqft does not need to pay property taxes.
Small shops from 150sqft will be released too.
After the proposal is cleared, almost two Lakh properties under PMC will come out of the internet.
Earlier this month, the chairman of the Minister of UDDHAV Thackeray announced the neglect of property taxes for residence less than 500 meters in Mumbai.
Officials say around 16 lakh families will benefit from neglect under BMC.
“The BMC decision must be replicated at PMC.
This is the need for hours.
Smaller flats are mostly owned by citizens with limited financial capacity.
Many of them have lost sources of income during Covid.
Tax neglect will help them,” said Corporator PMC Ashwini Kadam And Laxmi Dudhane, who submitted a proposal regarding requests in front of the permanent committee.
Congress leader Mohan Joshi also has the same request.
“PMC’s income has risen because of good income from property tax and building permits.
Civic’s body is able to provide this neglect.
It must be given earlier,” he said.
A group of housing communities have also been urgent for neglect.
“Financial losses of business places, especially small stores are very large.
Taxes must be abolished with a retrospective effect,” said Vijay Shinde from Pune City Society and Apartment Association.
