Pune: The Civic Body plans to start 500 charging stations in public places throughout the area to help electronic vehicle users (EV).
Now, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has completed the location for this, such as city parks, main roads and educational institutions, in an effort to promote the use of e-bikes and e-cars.
PMC officials say tenders have been issued and private institutions will be issued for the project.
Civil administration aims to charge the minimum amount for EV charging and money will be used for station maintenance.
“This project will be implemented based on income distribution.
PMC will provide space for private companies to regulate the station.
The company will make arrangements for other infrastructure,” said Shriniwas Kandul, Head of the PMC Electricity Department, added that the income from the station would be divided, where the entry parts to PMC as rental and other land liabilities.
Data on the Regional Transportation Office (RTO) states that around 57,380 EVs are registered in Maharashtra.
Of these, Pune has 10,417 and Pimpri Chinchwad has 7,139.
The new charging station will also be useful for PMC vehicle depots, which also promotes the use of EVs.
