New Delhi: The Prime Minister’s office was studied has cleared the nine names recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium led by the Chairman of the Ramana NV Judge for the appointment as the APEX court judge and has been suggested by the Ministry of Law to undergo customary medical tests before the issuance of the president’s appointment warrant.
Source of the Ministry of Law told Toi that PMO cleared the appointment of Karnataka HC Chairman of Justice as Oka, Gujarat HC CJ Vikram Nath, Sikkim CJ JK Maheshwari, Telangana HC CJ Hey Kohli, Karnataka HC BV Nagarathanna, Kerala HC CT Ravikumar, Madras HC Judge MM Sundresh, Gujarat HC Hakim Bela M Trivedi and Senior Advocate PS Narasimha.
This is the largest number of names recommended by the Collegium while going to make a position as a judge and the fastest, within a week, permission by PMO.
Importantly, these names include three female judges – Hima Kohli Judge, B V Nagaratha and Bela Trivedi – and among them, Nagarathna’s justice, will continue to become Cji’s first woman in 2027, although more than a month.
This promise will also create other milestones in the history of the country’s court because Narasimha will be first appointed directly from the bar to become CJI.
Previously, eight was immediately appointed from the bar directly to SC as a jury – S Sikri, S Santosh Singh, N Santosh Hegde, R F Nariman, U Lalit, L N Rao and Indu Malhotra.
By ensuring the appointment that will be issued as soon as the recommended person successfully completed their medical test, SC will function almost with full strength.
When nine oaths, work forces will increase to 33, leaving only one vacancy.
SC is currently working with 24 judges, especially because CJI N V.
