Mount Laurel: A white man who called several racist neighbors and claimed he forced another black population to move, had been charged with irregular harassment and behavior, according to the local police.
Order on Monday and other charging documents show at least two neighbors called police to report Edward C.
Mathews, 45, on Friday for harassing them in the Mount Laurel environment.
A black woman in a neighborhood called the police on Friday said Mathews harassed it, approaching the front door and shouting racial benefits, according to the prosecutor.
He previously told the police that he suspected Mathews “Mischief Criminal” involving his car.
Camera doorbell catches Mathews that brought his dogs to his front page, repeating racial sadness and thrusting his hips in a vulgar way after the police responded and talked to him, the prosecutor said.
The police then received the second call from the closest address and found Mathews using a crurs race to overcome four people, which seemed to be the interaction captured on video that attracted online attention.
The confrontation occurred after Mathews knocked on the door of the neighbor who demanded to see her husband, who was black, and tried to enter her house, the prosecutor said.
The woman, who was white, called police and other neighbors came to find Mathews on the path.
A message left with a public defender office who searched for comments on behalf of Mathews.
Mathews was originally charged with harassment and biased intimidation but was not arrested.
On Monday, protesters gathered outside his home for hours.
He apologized in the video filmed by protesters and posted online.
Police arrested Mathews Monday night and said he was in prison on Tuesday and will be held until the audience is likely on Friday.
“It is difficult to exaggerate how void and despicable behavior by the defendant against his neighbors on Friday night,” Prosecutor Burlington County Scott A.
Coffina said in a statement on Tuesday.
“No one has to deal with such hatred on their faces anywhere, but especially in front of their own door.” The police were investigating if the protesters threw objects to officers and Mathews when they arrested him committing any crime, said Coffina.
Mount Laurel is located 19 miles (30 kilometers) East Philadelphia.
