Bhubaneswar: Komisiancah police on Monday launched Sarai, cellular application, to receive information from hotels in Bhubaneswar about their guests.
This step is intended to keep the tab a suspicious person, mostly anti-social at the hotel.
To date, hotels manually send details of their guests check-in and check-out, including foreign tourists with the local police station.
Police said negligence by several hotels had pushed criminals to commit violations in the past.
The concern of the police assumed the significance as two criminals between countries lived in two hotels in the Patia area here and robbed Rs 27 Lakh from the ATM on October 10 last year.
As long as they lived in one of the hotels, the defendant carried a gas cylinder to their room.
Using a gas cutter, the defendant robbed an ATM.
Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadar Appeal to all the Amerius to take advantage of the Sarai application.
“We urge the hotel, cottage, and commercial guest houses to provide information about their guests through the mobile application or its web version.
We respect the privacy of guests.
Data will be kept secret and not distributed with anyone,” Priyadarshi said.
Deputy Commissioner of the Police of Uma Shankar Dash said this application would prevent the actions of disturbing police to verify guests.
Dash said that more than 100 Bhubaneswar hotels have been registered in the application.
The training program was also carried out on Monday where applicants were complained about the advantages of the application.
“We aim to include around 800 hotels and cottages Bhubaneswar in the application,” said Dash.
Police said all hotels had to be registered under the Sarais Act 1867.
According to the Sarais Law, the hotel is an important place and needs to submit a copy of the trade license to the District Administration (Police Commissioner in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack) as proof of their work.
