Pune: District rural police on Saturday claimed to have damaged a group of inter-district criminals on the record of the police involved in a series of theft of cash expenditure machines at the ATM kiosk in Pune.
Last month, the gang attacked Daund and Shirur, and stole the cash collectively worth RS15.07 Lakh from two ATM kiosks.
Local crime branch Pune Rural police led by Senior Police Inspector (SPI) Ashok Shelke tracked the escape route of the suspects with the help of CCTV recording and arrested them in Bed District.
The trio has been identified as Kedar Malhari (29), Balegaleb Kedar (29) and Sambhaji, for example (35), all from Shirur-coarse Taluka in Beed.
On October 7, the cash expenditure machine from an ATM operated by a non-banking entity was dragged and stolen from Mandavgan Farata in Shirur Taluka, while loaded with RS8.38 Lakh.
Within three days – on October 10 – another machine operated by other non-banking entities was stolen from Khadki in Daund, this time containing cash up to RS6.69 Lakh.
