Thiruvananthapuram: Access to online learning is no longer a dream that is not fulfilled for a group of tribal students in Congalamanhinmoodu near Kallar.
Police officer personnel Vithura Janamaitri and a group of student police cadets (SPCS) of the Government Vocational High School, Vithura, have established ‘kuttipallikoodam’ for tribal students.
The 320 sqft emergency class, built with parents’ efforts in five days using Alang-Alang and Bamboo, will benefit 18 students from two tribal settlements in the Congalamanhinmoodu.
“These students do not have access to online learning.
They do not have internet facilities because their settlements are in the forest.
To reach the way they have to step on the difficult road through the forest for more than six kilometers,” said Sub-Inspector of Police Station Vithura S Sudheesh.
At Kuttipallikoodam they have prepared television, whiteboards, chairs and other study materials, including books.
Most of these learning materials are contributed by various sympathizers.
In addition to teachers from Vithura schools, police personnel and two tribal students who have passed plus two will take classes for students.
Police personnel will teach them twice a week.
It was during a visit made by the Vithura police station officer in connection with the ‘SPC’ Oru Vayu Noti ‘that the family settlement shared their worries about their children who did not have access to online learning.
Sudheesh with the support of Vithura Station House Officer S Sreejith took the initiative to set up a classroom.
Also, during the last academic year, the same team had established the same classroom for students from Kalloolara Tribal Hamlet.
The team also plans to regulate the Personality Development Program and coaching PSC for students.
‘Kuttipallikoodam’ was inaugurated by Thiruvananthapuram Rural Additional SP Bijumon via online and first class was taken by excise obligations of SP and the state of additional Nodal SPC Mohammad Shafi.
