Police finish the stretch of 14 km on NH-16 for driving Lane

Bhubaneswar: Police Komisiancah has completed a stretch of 14 km on the National Highway (NH) -16 in Cuttack to start driving lines in an effort to reduce accidents.
However, the proposed tracking project in Bhubaneswar will be postponed because of some work done by the National Highway Authority (NHAI) in several places.
Police Komisionce in July last year sent a proposal to the department of the house, seek approval for the introduction of driving lines on the NH-16, connecting Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The state government approved a proposal a few months ago.
“We have conducted a survey of NH that connects Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
However, we did not find it worthy of starting Lane Driving under the Police District of Bhubaneswar (UPD) because of the ongoing work on NH.
Stretching between the Puri canal road (near Hansapal, Palasuni) and Gopalpur (Balikuda Chhak) in Cuttack Up were found as the perfect route to launch Driving Lane, “said Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Kishore Panigrahi to Ti.
Source said the police had tried in stretches, which were six lanes highways with three lines on each side.
“Nhai will immediately mark the path with thermoplastic paint, install a signage board, signage speed, gantry and bollard,” Panigrahi said.
The police have planned to improve the speed limit of 40 km / hip for the left lane (two wheels), 60 km / h to medium (heavy vehicle) and 60 km-80 km / h to the right lane (four -wheelers) on the route Designated Driving Lane.
The transportation department said the Supreme Court has been on November 30, 2017 issued several referrals related to road safety measures to countries.
In one direction, the Supreme Court categorically asked the countries to implement the 2017 motor vehicle regulation (driving) 2017 which mandated Driving Lane and also provided the protocol to overtake.
“In 2019, at least 1,040 accidents on the road occurred due to driving the wrong side and overtaking him which killed 445 people in the state.
Therefore, the strict implementation of the drive rules is very important,” said an official of the Department of Transportation.
