Nashik: a ‘no helmet, no gasoline’ drive launched in Nashik in Maharashtra by State Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Sunday as part of the 75th Independence Day celebration, police said.
Inaugurating a trip at the Sadbhavana Police Petroli Pump in Gangapur Road in Nashik, Bhujbal, who is the minister of district guards, said people had to follow traffic rules, including wearing a helmet, because 825 people lost their lives in 782 accidents that occurred in 782 cities in the last five years .
“Among 825 who died, 467 was a two-wheeled driver and was found that 397 was not wearing a helmet during the accident,” Bhujbal said, adding that the fuel pump must install CCTV to ensure the helmet rules are also fined.
Police Commissioner Nashik Deepak Pandey said the fuel pump must ensure they do not provide gasoline to anyone who violates the helmet rules, adding that cooperation from people will ensure the drive is a model one for the whole country.
On that occasion, Bhujbal distributed 2,053 helmets among the comic police personnel.
