Letter: A 35-year-old female police officer knocked to death by a quick dumper truck when he served in Bhestan Crossroad early on Thursday.
Dumper loaded with sand crashed into a pedicab that the victim Leena Mori was checking.
The pedicab was dragged because of almost 500 meters and the Dumper driver then escaped.
He was later arrested from the Sachin area and was identified as Badiya Bhuriya, 40, a resident of Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh.
After knocking down Mori, Bhuriya left the vehicle a few kilometers away at the Unn.
He began walking to escape but the police arrested him before he could leave the city.
Mori served together with two policemen and other home guard personnel.
They have stopped two pedicabs to be examined.
Dumper knocked the pedicab on the second line from behind in a few seconds after being stopped by the police.
Mori is right in front of the pedicab when the dumper crashes it.
He suffered a severe head injury.
Lok Rakshak Dal Cop Govind Vakatar (35) and Ashraf and Chetan, both rickshaw drivers, suffered injuries.
The police suspect that the dumper accelerated due to the traffic free road at night and because it was loaded, it did not stop immediately.
Mori recently completed the term five years as Lok Rakshak and appointed as police.
A native district of Aravalli, Mori lived with her husband and two children aged 8 and 2 years old.
Her husband is unemployed and her younger sons suffer from heart disease.
He must take him to Ahmedabad for care every month.
Mori’s colleague at the Pandesara police station launched a campaign to raise funds for his family because he was the only member of the income in the family.
