JAIPUR: Police are investigating a case of alleged threat calls made to independent MLA from Dausa’s Mahwa constituency, Om Prakash Hudla.
Sources in Jaipur police said the MLA had complained to police that he had received threat calls from unidentified people.
Cops said they were investigating the case, but an FIR was yet to be registered.
“We have received a complaint from the MLA.
He had alleged that threats were issued to him.
No FIR is registered in the case yet,” said Ramnagariya SHO Purushottam Maheriya.
Sources in city police said they were examining phone numbers through which calls were made to the MLA.
“We are conducting a preliminary probe to evaluate the threat perception and look at the veracity of calls,” the official told TOI.
The alleged call was made sometime on Tuesday evening.
“It was reported to us that some time ago the MLA was subjected to similar threat calls.
About a fortnight ago, there was also some incident wherein stones were pelted at a property owned by the leader,” the official said, adding that Hudla already has a police security and the efforts were being made to track down the caller who allegedly issued threats to the leader from Dausa district.
Jaipur police were also seeking help from the technical branch to track down suspects who made the alleged call.
“We are seeking the help of our different cells to find out who made the call.
This is not the first time that such a threat was issued over the phone to the MLA,” the official added.
