Madurai: A 25-year-old candidate, who took part in a physical test for recruitment to various uniformed services, fainted and died while completing 1,500 meters running in the Virudhunagar district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Marimutu Village M Alagapuri near Virudhunagar.
He has completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and aims to join the Police Department.
He took part in a physical test held in private schools in the morning.
He cleared the written examination and a physical measurement test.
A police officer said Marimuthu died while completing the competition that ran.
He fainted as he approached the stop line.
When he saw his struggle to reach the line, police personnel and other candidates pushed him.
After a lot of struggling, he somehow managed to touch the line.
A police team shifted him to the nearest hospital, where the doctor stated that he had been taken dead.
The West Virudhunagar police registered a case below the part 174 CRPC (suspicious death).
