Madurai: History-Sheeter was shot at his leg by Madurai City Police after him and his accomplice tried to escape from their prisoners by patching them with stones on Saturday morning.
Duo was arrested for threatening and attacking a woman sexually at Anna Nagar.
According to the police, the defendant, K Kuruvi Vijay, 30, from Anna Nagar and M Karthi aka Mouli, 28, from Vandiyur who was kidnapped and forced a woman into the old van and conducted sexual harassment on Friday night.
After the uncle of women told them, Police Anna Nagar saved him and arrested the two defendants.
They were taken to the police station Anna Nagar and a case was also registered against them.
The resources of the police further said that during the investigation, the Police Inspector Senthilkumaran and the Sivaramakrishnan and the team from the police station Anna Nagar took allegations back to the park to find and take evidence.
Kuruvi Vijay showed the blade used by him and the victim’s hand bag there.
The defendant then tried to escape and pelted the police with stones.
With stones that hurt the Senthilkumaran inspector, he fired one round on Kuruvi Vijay’s right knee in self-defense.
Other allegations meanwhile also fled and fell, hurt his left foot.
Both accused and inspectors were treated at Rajaji Government Hospital (GRH) for care.
The inspector also suffered bruise and broken his ribs because they threw stones.
