Thane: One person was arrested for carrying more than four tons of alleged beef pushed into Thane through the tempo seized near the Nitin Company Junction on Thursday.
Police said, a Lala Abdul Sayyed, 55, a Kurla resident, has been arrested in connection with this case.
According to the police, Tempo was seen by Bajrang activists in Nitin Junction at around 5 in the morning, when a man dried water from the pipe to the sewer.
They then told the Naupada police, who reached the place and carried out Panchnama.
“The search revealed that the large number of red meat was stored in Tempo.
Police Naupada then called the Thane Municipal Corporation veterinarian who took the samples confiscated for testing to confirm if the seizure was indeed beef or not.

The officer added that the question was being done to get information about the source and purpose of the transportation truck.
The police said violations under the IPC and other relevant parts of the prevention of animals and the city corporate law were registered at the Naupada police station.
