Chennai: The day after death for the death of a robber who had fired a gun in the air to scare the people at the Sriperumbudur toll gate before taking the chain, Kancheepuram police on Tuesday launched a gang search that held another pistol that was prey in the district.
The two members’ gangs, they believed, were behind the shooting of October 4 at the Tasmac Oragadam outlet that made one staff member die and others injured.
RAM, Tasmac staff members were injured, on Sunday underwent surgery at the Rajiv Gandhi Chennai General Hospital (RGGGH) to have bullets released from his chest.
Thusdas’s colleague had died in the attack.
The police were initially suspicious of the same gang being behind the incident at the Sriperumbudur toll gate, but the bullets released from the body of RAM were found different from the toll gate incident.
On October 4, Thulasdas and RAM closed the Tasmac outlet when two men arrived and attacked them.
While ThulationDas died in place, RAM, who had a store key, managed to escape by scaling the wall even though it was shot.
Police initially did not believe the RAM version that gang members had fired them until the doctor took off the bullet from his chest.
With confirmation that another gang appeared, Kancheepuram police intensified the search, especially researching people who recently took rentals in the area.
The police said the suspect in the Tasmac Outlet attack seemed to be a man from the northern part of the country, added that they were examining a list of guest workers and men who had taken rude work in the Sripipudur and Irungattuktai industrial belt.
They also use drones in search.
Records from CCTV cameras throughout stretching are being collected and investigators have questioned Niam Akhthar, a suspect in the captured toll gate incident.
“It seems to be a different gang work.
We get some details about their identity from the victims,” said a senior officer.
