Police TN: ‘level card’ circular bar rampant corruption

Coimbatore: acknowledging corruption institutionalized in strength, Tamil Nadu police have compiled a list of 61 activities where the station the station level has a ‘level of cards’ bribes from Rs 100 to more than Rs 1 Lakh.

Circular issued by M Sree Abhinaav, police supervisor, Salem Regency, for additional police officers (ADSP), deputy police supervisor (DSP), and all special units on October 11 said several police personnel received illegal satisfaction from anti-social elements involved in the sale of marijuana, lotteries, illegal liquor and smuggled sand, and gambling and prostitution on behalf of parror massage, every month.
“We received a round from our higher authority in Chennai.
Based on Circular, instructions have been given to all police personnel in the Salem district.
Police accept bribes to support anti-social elements and receive money from the public will be severely punished,” said Sree Abhinav.
Coimbatore District leader from Police S Selvanagarathinam also released the same circular with DSP and inspectors, ordered them not to be involved in illegal satisfaction.
The wrong police will face tight action, he warns.
Already, Selvanagarathinam has placed five police personnel under suspension of corruption allegations.
Coming as in the midst of the festival season, when ‘prizes in the type’ and the peak of corruption, circular and the accompanying warning has sent ripple among police across the state.
Circular said how much money every police inspector, sub-inspector or even the author of the police station received for various types of public services entrusted to them.
Some inspectors collected Rs 10,000 to RS 1 Lakh for civil disputes and 50,000 Rs to RS 1 Lakh to investigate the current paper and from powder traders, he said.
The inspector also received Rs 2,000 from per cottage per month and RS 5,000 from a spa, he said, added that they also received Rs 10,000 to 60,000 from the people involved in the sale of illegal liquor.
Circular registered bribes taken by sub-inspectors ranging from Rs 5,000 to RS 30,000 from various offenders, bribery taken by Special Branch Personnel (SB) posted at each station ranging from Rs 500 to 5,000, and the writing station, which took RS bribery 100 to issue a copy of FIR and up to RS 1,000 from the gambler.
