Coimbatore: Police Kg Chavadi on Wednesday confiscated 3,650 kg of PDS rice at the check post and arrested a man.
PDS rice is being smuggled into Kerala from Tamil Nadu.
Police sources said the vehicle stopped based on suspicion and found 73 bags of rice rations with each bag containing 50 kg.
The person arrested has been identified as G Martin, 40, from Jalan Wala Palakkad Kerala.
Light commercial vehicles used to smuggle rice are also confiscated.
The police handed over the defendants, vehicles and rice confiscated for CD civil stocks for further investigation.
