Police to buy drones for traffic management

Mumbai: The city traffic police plan to buy two drones – or unmanned air vehicles – for traffic management and law enforcement, the first for the city.
Drones will be equipped with advanced features, police officers, will prevent the wrong driver, thus reducing violations of traffic rules.
“Drones can be used to monitor traffic movements in areas where there is solid congestion and existing surveillance cameras are not there or too little,” said the commissioner together, traffic, Yadav Yadav.
Drones can also be sent to areas where legal regularity situations are reported.
Drones are able to take off and automatic landing.
They will be equipped with the ‘return back’ function which means they return to the starting point if the battery runs low or the connection is lost.
The device will be funded by the infrastructure agency related to the State Government.
Both drones will cost around Rs 30 Lakh.
Among the main features are spotlights, vehicle tracking and capturing vehicle numbers that violate traffic rules.
“UAV [drone] will be equipped with electronic eyes that can focus on high-speed moving objects, such as cars, and follow it.
After the vehicle is marked as suspicious, we can have UAV to track it.
It can also work in evil prevention,” said a person Commissioned Officer.
Images of violations captured on the camera on the UAV board can be used to produce e-challans.
Traffic police have conveyed the requirements for the UAV which can cover a range of 3 km, has a public announcement system and has a minimum 2-hour minimum function capacity.
Drones are used throughout the world by police.
In France, Drone provides live-stream, allows police to survey a large area.
Police Ajman is the first in the UAE to use drones for road traffic patrols.
Drones with the camera allow the police to read the license plate, spot traffic violations and detect structural errors on the road.
In Sharjah, drones with Tech face recognition helped find suspects in violent crimes.
In Mumbai, the central train has used drones for mapping the crime area and capturing air images to control violations and other incidents on the railway line.
