Patna: A police team allegedly attacked and was held hostage for at least five hours in the village of Malin Bigha under the LAUKAHA police station in Madhubani district on Friday night by residents of Irate villagers who accused them (police) trying to disperse Panchayat polls in supporting certain candidates.
The team consisted of the Lalminiya Incharge Ghulam Sarvar Police Station, two police officers and six homemade guards.
They were released at 11pm after senior officials intervened.
A pine was registered against 39 villagers and at least 400 unknown people with the Laukaha police station on Saturday in connection with this case.
FIR was submitted based on the complaint submitted by Sarvar.
Madhubani DM Amit Kumar said the population of IRAT villagers stirred after officials from the PhoolParas subdivision reached the place.
“Village residents demand Sarvar and Repolling transfers.
However, there is no evidence to show that the police tried to focus on the poll,” he added.
