Noida: Nargis (45, the name changed) from Unnao District in Uttar Pradesh lived separately from her husband after several years of marriage, along with her two daughters and a son.
Financially weak, the woman found the opportunity to work as domestic aid in Oman who would help him get Rs 25,000 per month.
In February, with the help of a travel agent based in Kanpur, he reached the Gulf State, only to realize that he had fallen into the trap of Nexus Human Trade.
“As soon as I reached Oman, my phone was taken away and I experienced physical and mental torture.
Ayesha, a woman Sri Lankan, handle me.
I begged her to let me go back to India, but she sued Rs 4 Lakh.
For my release, “Nargis told PTI via telephone.
His daughter Sophia (the name changed) said, “Ammi somehow told us about the trials by telephone, after that I reported this problem to the Kanpur police, along with detail travel agents.” On August 15, because the country marked the 75th Independence Day, Nargis returned home, along with two more women, belonging to Kanpur police and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
During the investigation, the police found a larger Nexus of human trafficking spread in several countries and targeted women aged between 24 and 50 years and the pretext of making them work as domestic assistance for good salaries in Bay countries such as Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Arabic Saudi, officials said.
The victims not only from Uttar Pradesh, but also from other parts of India such as Punjab, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, while Nexus has also trapped women from neighboring countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and from several African countries , they claim.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kanpur from Salman Taj Patil said his lid exploded from human-trafficking rackets when they began investigating complaints in April from the population of the city, who accused that his wife was “trapped” in Oman, only to reveal a larger international Nexus.
“When we extended the scope of the investigation, officers immediately understood that this problem was related to human trafficking.
Police Commissioner ASIM Arun involves the Canpur anti-human trade unit to enter deeper in this case, while central agents such as MEA are also warned.
And their help is sought.
Save the victims.
“In the last four months, 12 women like that – six of Kanpur, two of them from Punjab and Chennai and one of Goa and Karnataka – were brought back to the country safely with the help of MEA,” the officer said to PTI .
He said the police investigation had revealed that Ayesha, a woman from Sri Lanka in Oman, handled all networks abroad while Key India Stooges, based in Bengaluru, has a connection with a “travel agent” in countries that trap women and send them to foreign countries with “tourist visas”.
During the probe, two Warpur residents – Muzammil and Ateequr Rahman – Yes Ng worked as a travel agent and had sent several women to Gulf countries arrested, according to police officials.
Both of them led the police to the All-India network operated by Amin based in Bengaluru, which was also arrested, they added.
“Gang sent around 18 women from Kanpur and cities that side by side to the Gulf countries in the past two years.
Most of these women are in the age group of 24 to 40 years and three are in the age group 40 to 50 years.
These women Sent to Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman, “said one official.
On the way ahead of this matter, ASIM Commissioner Arun said Kanpur police worked on two aspects – ensuring the return of the victims to India and legal action against the perpetrators.
“First and foremost, we want to ensure that all trade victims are safe and sound.
Our focus is to get formal complaints separate from all victims so that strict legal actions can be ascertained by prison,” he told PTI.
Senior IPS officers said he hoped that police in other countries would also follow.
He refused to divulge the number of victims in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country, citing the sensitivity of the problem.
