ELIZABETH CITY: The two girls were struck by a vehicle whilst protesting a police murdering in Elizabeth City on Monday, authorities said. Michelle Morris, 42, also Valerie Lindsey, 42, were struck by a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Lisa O’Quinn of Greenville, based on a Elizabeth City police announcement. Both girls, that are Black, have been protesting at approximately 6:45 p.m. if they had been struck, authorities said. They had been treated in a hospital and released. O’Quinn, who’s white, is charged with 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill the usage of a motor vehicle, 1 count of reckless and careless driving and a count of dangerous movement. Demonstrations are held regularly since the April 21 shooting Andrew Brown Jr., who had been murdered as he had to push from Pasquotank County deputies. The officers have been serving arrest and search warrants that accused Brown of owning small quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine he planned to market. The department said it is exploring”potential aggravating factors” which could lead to hate crime charges being filed from O’Quinn, who stayed in jail Tuesday on $40,000 bond. Her initial court appearance is set for Thursday.
