Police use drones, tractors to destroy poppy plants

Ranchi: State police intensify their encouragement in Jharkhand to identify and destroy poppy plants planted illegally.
Growing Poppy Plant, which is processed to produce opium, is prohibited on Jharkhand.
The police are tractors who plying in large fields to accelerate the work of destruction and drones are also used to survey areas to detect dangers that will occur in the police team during the task.
Amol Homkar said that anti-poppy operations were ongoing in a massive way in several countries, including Ranchi, Khunti and Chatra.
Khunti police perform such operations regularly in various district parts, including Marangdaha, Arki, Khunti and Saiko, and they have destroyed plants standing.

Khunti SP Ashutosh Shekhar said that intelligence input on Poppy plantations was collected mostly from the villagers and during police operations.
He added that even though the tractor was used to undermine plants to the ground, those who grow in areas that are difficult and inaccessible are destroyed with the help of swords and sticks.
“Even though we have destroyed a large channel of Poppy plants, no arrests have been made.
Because the plant is located in the forest and in remote areas, it is difficult to ensure who cultivators,” Shekhar said.
Apart from the encouragement of awareness of poppy cultivation by administration, plant cultivation has not declined this year.
Big scale opium cultivation has been reported in several parts of Ranchi, including Namkum, Dasham Falls, Pithoria and Kanke.
The police destroyed plants on 40 hectares of land under the police station Namkum in the last 10 days.
