Panaji: Tennis Superstar and Congressman Trinamool Leander Paes on Thursday said he joined politics with the aim of making a difference in the lives of people.
Paes was talking to reporters during a visit to the Velim assembly constituency in South Goa.

For me, it is a good business for the people,” said the 48-year-old Olympian.
Paes joined TMC here in front of the chairman of the party and Head of Bengal Bengal Barat Mamata Banerjee during his trip to Goa last month.
Banerjee visited the coastal country ruled by BJP ahead of the assembly poll next year.
“I have done my professional tennis career in certain professionalism in a certain way, in certain patriotism.
For me, because I have done patriotism using tennis as a vehicle, I want to use this political business to make a difference to make a difference.
People,” he said.
Indian tennis legend said he called “business” politics because there were many databases, knowledge and involvement of professional teams in political activities.
“Also, in the helmet we have a woman (banerjee) who is the captain of the team,” he said.
Paes said Banerjee had given him the opportunity to do good for the people and “it is something I really thank you for”.
“I believe in him because he is a champion.
I know him since I was 8 years old, he had helped me a lot in teenagers, when I needed to travel abroad and did not have sponsors and foreign currencies at that time,” he said.
Tennis veterans describe bengal cm as “perpetrators”.
“When he said something, he would do it.
On my way (political), it was about giving back to the people,” he said.
