Coimbatore: Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) has submitted additional chargesheets in the presence of the Mahila District Court in connection with the Polachi rape case by entering the name K Arulanham, T Heron Paul, P Babu and Arulumar.
The trial in this case is likely to begin next month.
The case was revealed on February 24, 2019 with a 19-year-old campus girl who filed a 26-year-old K Techirunavukkarasu, from Makkinamatti, 25-year-old Sabarirajan aka Riswanth, from Jothi Nagar, 29-d and Sathish, from Suleeswaranpatti, and T Vasanthakumar, from Pakkothipalayam, to sit sexually.
The next day, Pollachi City police arrested three of them, while Thirunavukkarasu went into hiding.
He, however, Nabbed on March 5, 2019.
All four were ordered under Section 354 (a) (punishment for sexual harassment) and 354 (b) of the Indian criminal code, Section 66 (e) of IS Acting and Part 4 Prohibition of Women’s Harassment Tamil Nadu.
This case was then transferred to the CID CIDS CRIME police, who tried NAB R Manivannan, 30, from Aactipatti.
However, he gave up before the court of judges (CJM) of the Chief Justice on March 25, 2019.
Manivannan, who was later taken to police custody, claimed to have raped several women along with four people arrested and they had taken the video of the action.
Police Cid-Cid Crime changed it with a rape case on April 5, 2019.
Meanwhile, this case was transferred to the CBI, which filed Chargesheet against five before the CJM court on May 24, 2019.
Chargesheet contained more than 1,000 pages.
In 2020, the CBI arrested Arulantham, Heron Paul and Babu in this case.
Two weeks ago, Arsunkumar, from Kittasurampalayam Village, was also arrested in connection with this case.
Their name has been included in additional chargesheets.
