Polling BBMP: more delays because the ward exercises slowly move

Bengaluru: The election of the BBMP can be delayed further because the state government has made a slight progress in limiting wards, crucial exercises for the poll process.
Mastery of the restriction committee ended last month and extensions had not succeeded, according to officials.
The government has formed a committee, led by Commissioner of the BBMP Head, on January 30 to rediscover the boundaries of the Bengaluru ward in accordance with the new BBMP law.
This law has enabled the government to increase the number of wards from 198 to 243 and including villages located within 1 km of the suburbs within the boundary of the BBMP.
The term committee ends on July 30.
Pandemic changes and leadership in this country affect the speed of their work and only meet last month.
“The term ends when the restriction exercise has made progress slowly because of Covid-19.
It’s up to the government to update it,” said the President Commissioner of BBMP Gaurav Gupta.
Rakesh Singh, additional Secretary Secretary (Urban Development) and the BBMP administrator, said that the file to rearrange the committee has been placed before the government, which will soon examine it.
The BBMP election should be held in September last year, but was postponed because Covid-19.
On December 4, 2020, the High Court directed the State Election Commission to schedule polls for 198 wards within six weeks.
The state government moved the Supreme Court, by saying that polls must be made for 243 wards under the new law and that it takes time to redruct the limits.
The APEX court still gets a high court order.
“The delay by the government in renewing the term of office of the restriction committee showed its reluctance to hold BBMP elections.
While our argument is that the election must be carried out for 198 wards in accordance with the high court order, the government must complete the restrictions on 243 wards now,” said the former member of the Congress Board Abdul Wajid , one of the applicants who saw the implementation of the most early polls.
The Election Commission has objected to the stay.
This case is expected to be heard on Monday, but finally not registered.
“We plan to ask the court to mention cases of urgency.
We hope our request sounds,” said KN Phanindra, who appeared for the commission.
The inclusion of the village within the boundary of the BBMP is a decision with the political consequences and Chair of the Minister of Bumavaraj Bommai is rumored to want to walk slowly.
BJP MLA represents the constituency on the outskirts of Bengaluru has requested that all villages in their segments must be included and the limit of 1 km must be extended.
“But the limits of the BBMP cannot be expanded for other reasons: In the recent guidelines, the center has banned the expansion of the city border.
The state government must persuade the center,” said an official.
