Polling Eyes: BMC Races to start the GMLR project work

Mumbai: Ahead of the BMC poll that will be held early next year, BMC rushes to begin the construction of the Goregaon Mulund link ambitious (GMLR).
Two bridges intend to connect the Western Express Highway with the Eastern Express Highway to be built and the administrative process for it at the end.
Working on challenging parts – tunnels to go under the national park – will be taken later.
While one bridge will be built in front of Oberoi Mall towards the film, the other will be built in Khindipada (Bhandup), connecting the tunnel to the East Express Highway.
A senior official from the Civic Bridge Department said, “The inauguration of the work for the two kites that will connect the tunnel may soon occur after the proposal has been sent for administrative approval.
After construction begins, we even plan to push tunneling work.” GMLR will pass under the park National Sanjay Gandhi (SGNP), which affected around 19.43 hectares of park.
The loss of plantations was proposed to be compensated by BMC in villages near Tadoba by acquiring a similar sized plot.
The total length of the end of the road ranging from the West Ekspres highway in Goregaon to the Eastern Express highway in Mulund was proposed to be more than 12 km.
The road will have two tunnels and the SGNP tunnel is estimated to be 4.7 km.
Meanwhile, a tunnel box through a film film in Goregaon has also been proposed to be 1.6 km away.
The initial estimate of the cost of the GMLR project was set at the RS 4,700 Crore which has now increased to more than Rs 6,000 Crore.
