Panaji: BJP on Thursday announced the first list of 34 candidates for Goa, dropping three MLA sitting including two ministers but defending the former minister who had stopped on charges of sex scandals.
The party also refused to give Panaji ticket to former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Utpal, held from 1994 until his death in March 2019.
In contrast, the BJP went with Monsere ‘Babush’, and one of 10 working Delak Congress joined with Pramod Sawant Sawant Government in July 2019 has been declared as a candidate of Sankhli, a constituency he has represented since 2012.
“Parrikar Manohar Parrikar Utpal or family is our family.
They are very close to us.
We have given two other options for Utpal where he can compete.
he has refused one of the options and active discussions for the second option.
We all feel the need to agree, “said BJP Goa BJP Election Devendra Fadnavis.
This is the second time BJP has refused tickets to Utpal in Panaji.
In 2019, when the chair fell vacancy after the death Parrikar, BJP has lowered Aide Sidharth Kuncalienker in Parrikar in Bypoll.
He lost to Monserrate, who had opposed the congressional ticket.
Smarting from denied ticket, PWD Minister and Deputy Speaker Deepak Pauskar Isidore Fernandes has decided to fight against the BJP.
Another minister, Filipe Nery Rodrigues, who on Wednesday announced that he would resign from the government but later suspended its decision, also denied a ticket.
Candidates in six remaining constituencies will be announced in the second list, which is expected to be released in the next few days.
Aims to give representation to various communities, BJP has downgraded three candidates of the tribe which is scheduled to compete in a chair speaking, two candidates of caste scheduled, one of which will compete in the chair general, 11 candidates from the class behind the other (OBC) and nine seats have been given the Catholic candidate.
For the first time, the BJP, which has made the family ‘Raj’ a poll plank in 2012, gave a ticket to the two-pair Jennifer and Atanasio Monserrate and Deviya and Vishwajit Rane.
“Sometimes, this is the danger of occupation,” Fadnivis said about tickets provided for monsters and running.
“Babush and Jennifer’s wife were chosen as MLA and then they both joined BJP.
He has his own identity and is also a cabinet minister in the BJP government,” he said.
