Kolkata: The State Election Commission (SEC) issued a notification on Thursday to announce that the general elections to 108 cities throughout the country will be held on February 27.
Polls will be held between 7am and 5pm.
Candidates can submit their nominations from February 3 to February 9.
Nomination observations will be held on February 10, SEC notification said, adding that the last day for nominees was February 12.
However, notifications do not mention the date of the vote count, which, officials said, will be declared later.
“The election for 108 cities will be held on February 27.
The date of the calculation will be announced later,” said Security SEC.
The official said that the entire selection process would be completed on March 8, the State Administration prepared for civilian polls and to record the situation, the SEC would hold a meeting with the current district judges and police supervisors.
The poll for Howrah Municipal Corporation, however, has not been declared as the process of determining Bally from Howrat has not done it.
So, in the district of Howrah there will be voting at Ulububeria Municipality.
In the Darjeeling District, there will be voting in Darjeeling Municipality, while in other districts there will be voting in various civil bodies.
In Coochbehar will enter six cities.
24 North Parganas will witness polls in 25 cities.
The Barrackpore sub division is considered the most fluctuating for having seen routine violence since 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Hooghly Regency will have a poll in 12 cities and several belts have witnessed violence for 2021 assembly polls.
At Mursidabad, there will be a poll in seven cities while it’s 10 for Nadia and five for Birbhum.
In 24 South Parganas, voting will be in six cities, including Diamond Habour, which is under the Habour Diamond Chairs LS Trinamool National Secretary Trinamool Abhishek Banerjee.
