Lucknow: Head of the Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on Saturday expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National President of BJP JP Nadda and Parliament Council to make him a candidate from Gorakhpur in the upcoming polls.
While overcoming Presser, Minister Union Dharmendra Pradhan said that the party released a list of candidates for 57 of 58 seats in the first phase and for 48 of 55 in the second phase, and revealed that Yogi Adityanath would contest from the Gorakhpur seat.
“The Chairman of the Yogi Adityanath Minister for the contest from the Gorakhpur seat.
Deputy Chief of Minister of Keshav Prasad Maurya for the contest from the Sirathu assembly segment,” he said.
“Hearty thanks to the prime minister who is respected by @narendramodi, a respectable national president of @jpnadda and the parliamentary council to make me a candidate for Bharatiya Janata from Gorakhpur (Urban) in the next assembly election,” Tweeted Yogi in Hindi.
There was a previous speculation that Adityanath, who had never fought the previous assembly election, could compete from Ayodhya or Mathura.
BJP leader Harnath Singh Yadav has written to the National President of the JP Nadda Party and urged him to train Mathura’s chairman.
However, putting all speculations to rest, BJP announced that Uttar Pradesh Yogi Minister Adyityanh will compete from Gorakhold Gorakhpur who chose him to Lok Sabha for five straight terms until 2017.
Polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14., 20, 23 , 27 and March 3 and 7 in seven phases.
Vote counting will take place on March 10.
