Pollution board slapped RS 16L fine for norm violations

Noida: The Uttar Pradesh pollution control body (UPPCB) has imposed a fine of Rs 6 lakh in Noida and Rs 10 Lakh in Ghaziabad after receiving complaints about air pollution.
Violations are mostly construction contractors in Noida and Malls in Ghaziabad.
The details of the penalty have been forwarded to the district administration in Ghaziabad and in Noida, fine detail against the Noida Authority vendor has been sent to officials there.
The rest has been sent to the administration.
Twelve offenders have been withdrawn in Noida, including eight noida authority vendors, because it causes dust pollution at construction sites in sectors 104, 76, 77, 79, 63, 52 and 2 and near fire station in sector 58.
The fine has also been recited Malls in Sector 75, a hospital in sector 50, and two private plots in the sector 1.
RS 50,000 sentences have been recommended against each violator by UPPCB.
The total amount is Rs 6 lakh.
In Ghaziabad, the penalty of RS 5 Lakh each has been applied in two malls.
Officials said the number was higher for the Ghaziabad company, because they occupied a larger area.
“We got complaints from noida and ghaziabad residents.
We conducted a surprise inspection and recommend a fine everywhere needed.
Usually, in winter, poor air quality and by not following pollution norms, this company finally damages themselves and around .
We hope that after this punishment, other people adhere to the norms of pollution, “said Utsav Sharma, regional officers, UPPCB (Noida and Ghaziabad).
He added that with the action plan in place, the authority of larger Nida Industrial Development (Gnida) has been able to control pollution in the city widely.
The city has been divided into eight zones, each of which is led by Nodal officers, to monitor and control air pollution.
