Melbourne: Australian former captain Ricky Ponting has revealed that he was approached by BCCI to train India before Rahul Dravid was chosen for coveted work.
Ponting, legend batting and one of the most successful captains ever, said time commitment stopped him to take Indian coaching work and a similar role for the Australian team.
“I have several conversations with several people during the IPL about it (the position of the head coach of India).
The people I talked to was good enough to find a way to make it work,” said Ponting ‘The Grade Cricketer’ Hi’ar.

First of all, I can’t give up at that time, that means I can’t train in the IPL,” said Ponting about his conversation about the work of the Indian coach.
Ponting also said that for the same reason, he would not be able to take Australian coaching work.
“Time is the only thing that stops me (from taking work), honestly.
I want to train the Australian team, but what I have done with my playing career is far from family.” I have a young family now, a seven-year-old boy, and give up 300 days a year is not what I will do.

The people I spoke to believe they had the right person, so they might be cruel to do it.” Ponting also confirmed that he would continue with the next Delhi Capitals, even though he had not officially extended his contract with the club.
“Some young players I have the opportunity to work with extraordinary and very good people,” he said.
“That’s what I want to do – The Prithvi Shaws, The Shreyas Iyers, The Avesh Khans, these people, we have it in the system for three four years which really turned into excellent IPL players, and some of them have also been turn into an international player.
“
