NEW DELHI: A report of a new land released by the NGO Protsahan India Foundation on Covid-19 says every slum households both have members suffering from cold, cough or fever but most of them are not tested for fear of losing revenue and ostracized by the community should they test positive for coronavirus , Over 65 slum communities in west Delhi, including Dwarka, Uttam Nagar and Vikas Nagar Hastaal village, surveyed between December last year and this month’s report entitled ‘Covid-19 Pulse Check – Land reports 5’.
According to the report, there is still resistance among slum dwellers to get tested because of the stigma attached to being patient Covid and daily wage losses arising officer can not go to work or being kept away from work due to infection.

In other cases, the field team noted, the father gave up the infection, forcing mothers to resort to transactional sex, ragpicking or begging for money because the usual way of women working as domestic servants was limited by the pandemic.
The report also claims that girls aged over 18 years of being pushed into marriage when they passed Class XII because their parents can not afford their education expenses again.
And while Protsahan says it supports the family as the closing costs for necessities and care for children, the report highlights the lack of social protection that caused the crisis the protection of children in the slums of Delhi.
The report said small factories where most slum dwellers are employed has dropped to close during a pandemic.

” The report asked the state government to create awareness and provide access to government schemes for orphans Covid and Covid widow in BPL families.
It is also recommended speeding up the processing of e-Ration coupons while, providing financial assistance or other digital device for marginalized students to keep them in school, prioritizing gradual opening of schools and investment and prioritizing Delhi Saheli Samanvay Kendra Scheme in 2022.
