Poor Civic Infra can force us to close the store: B’lu merchants

Bengaluru: With poor NR road conditions, SJP Road, SP Road and Avenue Road and adjacent stretches keep their customers, some hardware traders have no choice but to turn off their business.
According to traders, there are no roads because of excavation repeatedly by agencies, while street lights are not operating.
There is no public toilet too.
They said their requests repeatedly to MLA, MP and their civil institutions were not widely used.
Tim Tii visited the area recently found that the overflow of waterways, broken pedestrian paths, open dress holes, and the digging line was a general view.
The BBMP Records Show SP Road was excavated in 2018 by BWSSB to repair the underlying waste pipe.
This project must be completed by the end of 2019, but is delayed.
Then stopped because of a pandemic.
The stories of other roads in the area are not too different.
Saifee Eripurwala, a trader, said he had two shops with the same stretch, but he could not visit them.
“There is no path and I can’t walk on the road because of holes and wastewater stagnates.
I’m worried I might have to close the store because of poor civil infrastructure,” he said.
According to the hardware of Karnataka and the Allied Merchant Association (Khama), there are 20,000 traders in the regions with each using at least five people.
Claiming that this area produces 42% of state taxes, traders wonder why they must be resistant to the apathy.
“Customers hesitate to use these streets because of their bad conditions.
We do not demand new roads, only patchy will be very helpful.
We have met MLA Uday Garudhachaar, BBMP officials and Ben Smart City Limited (Benscl), but they passed money to BWSSB, which in turn blamed BBMP, “said Vikram Agarwal, President Khama, told TII.
“Avenue Road has been closed for more than six months now, and our trade has been greatly affected,” Kiran Hebbar, a member of Khama.
“Bad coordination between civilian institutions is a problem,” Rahul Goyal BK, Secretary of Khama.
Staff women are hesitant to work in these areas because of the lack of toilets and street lights, said goyal, adding: “BBMP wants to develop silver Jubilee Park.
Why not divert funds to provide us with basic infrastructure.” Khama members and other traders have submitted Many requests on the application of Sahaaya 2.0 and Namma Bengaluru, but in vain.
BBMP officials said the error lies in BensCl and BWSSB.
“We have issued a notification to civil institutions to complete work quickly and repair the road.” BWSSB said it would repair the road in 20 days.
