Rome: Pope Francis offers condolences on Monday to the victims of the “destroying” apartment fire at Borough Bronx from New York which killed 19 people, nine of them children.
Francis sent a telegram to New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan who offered “sincere condolences and his spiritual closeness guarantees” for those affected by Mom.
Telegram was signed by the Secretary of the Vatican State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
Blaze, who also sent dozens of people to the hospital, was the most deadly in New York City in three decades.
The investigator said the electric space heater was not functioning, connected to provide extra heat on a cold morning, starting fires in the 19th floor building.
Francis’s message noted that the loss was so many children, and said the Pope “entrusted the victims and their families with compassionate love for the Almighty God and asked for all comfort and strength in God.”
