Vatican City: Pope Francis will attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow in November, health permits, said the Catholic Bishop of Rome Scotland on Monday.
The bishops confirmed the presence of whales among other world leaders in a statement on their website.
“After writing to the Holy Father to convince him about a warm welcome, should he attend the conference, they were happy to hear that he hoped to be present and would love to meet them in Glasgow,” said a statement.
Francis was in Rome’s hospital recovered from the intestinal operation and would remain there for a few more days, the Vatican said on Monday.
He is expected to continue normal activities in August.
Scottish bishops say the Pope “will be in Scotland for a very short time, most of which will be spent to participate in the COP26 conference.” In October the Vatican will host the main meeting of world religious leaders and scientists to take a shared attitude to raise bets ahead of the conference.
The Vatican has not officially announced the Pope’s journey to Scotland, but a trip to Slovakia and the capital of Hungary Budapest is still scheduled for mid-September.
