According to the police, the Mayor of Gohel, who worked with private companies, had ordered earphones set from e-commerce portal last month.
But because the pieces were broken he contacted the portal and put a request to return it.
On November 29, Gohel got a call from someone who claimed to be an e-commerce company executive.

Gohel did as ordered and also activated similar links from two numbers.
Immediately after Gohel completed the activation process, RS 99,999 was debited from his bank account in two parts.
This was when Gohel realized that he had been cheated, and approached Cybercrime cells from the police.
Porbandar Cybercrime Sub-Inspector Subhash Odedara said, “Once a complainant approaches us, we trace relationships and cancel the transaction.
The complainant gets back the money.
Now we trace the defendant using a telephone number.”
