Noida: A one-year-old boy, who was brought to PGI for a child with a lightweight fever and diarrhea on Thursday, was positively tested during antigen screening.
However, the baby’s RT-PCR report is negative, the doctor said.
The boy’s parents were tested negatively and couldn’t possibly be exposed to others, they said.
“According to the protocol, we filter all patients to covid before entering.
During the antigen test, we found him positive for Covid.
But then, the RT-PCR report came negative.
The baby is fine and we continue to observe,” said Dr.
Jyotsna Madan, Director of Acting, Super Pediatric Hospital and Postgraduate Training Institute (SSPHPGTI) or PGI Children.
“His parents have been tested and we have checked with them about the main contact,” added Dr.
Madan.
Last month, a one-year-old child tested positive (RT-PCR) in the private laboratory.
But when it was taken to PGI children and tested again, the report was negative.
So far, Noida has recorded around 63,000 cases and since March last year, 200 children aged up to 10 years have become covid.
“So far, we have seen very few children seriously because of Covid.
For adults, we have a standard dose and more easier procedure.
But specialists are needed to deal with children,” said Dr.
Ashutosh Sinha, Additional Director of Pediatrics, Fortis Hospital , Noida.
