New Delhi: This is good news for pilgrims in India and Pakistan who want to visit their respective religious sites on both sides.
India and Pakistan have shown interest in opening more sites and travel modes for pilgrims.
There is an existing protocol to facilitate pilgrims on both sides.
However, there is a new proposal to expand the number of sites and travel modes.
India has a positive approach and is ready to engage with Pakistan about this issue, a spokesman for MEA Arindam Bagchi during weekly media direction.
“As you know, under the 1974 protocol between India and Pakistan, a visit to Religious Temple is facilitated regularly.
There are interest in both parties to expand the list of agreed upon temples and travel modes,” he said.
According to Pakistani media reports, the Hindu Pakistani council has proposed to fly 160 Hindu pilgrims from Karachi to Jaipur and travel have been postponed because of the “non-disobedience” of India.
India said that the expansion of the list of pilgrimage sites requires discussions and so covid restrictions are appointed then there can be talks about this problem under the 1974 protocol.
“Naturally it is necessary to discuss under the protocol.
Let me underline India has a positive approach to this problem and is willing to be involved with parties Pakistan.
