Positive pants test for Covid-19 in England, Shah urges caution

New Delhi / London: Wicketkeeper-Batsman Rishabh Pant has been positively tested for Covid-19 on a ongoing England tour and not traveling with the Indian team to Durham because it was re-installed for the next month’s test series against the host.
The BCCI source confirmed that the pants were isolated for the last eight days.
He, according to the source, asymptomatic at this time.
“He was in quarantine at an acquaintance and would not travel with the team to Durham on Thursday,” he said without bumping when the 23-year-old child will join the squad.
However, he is likely to undergo a Covid-19 test in the next few days.
The rest of the troops, Sans Pant and Shubman Gill were injured, went for Durham on Thursday from London.
Gill has suffered a leg injury earlier this month and young Batsman had left the Bio-Bubble Team.
The development was approaching the Heel Secretary BCCI Jay Shah sent an email to the Indian contingent, warned him about the increasing Covid-19 case in the UK.
The break was given to the players after the world test championship against New Zealand, which was missing on the last team.
“Yes, one player has been tested positively but he has been isolated for the past eight days.
He did not live in any hotel with the team, so there were no other players affected,” said Vice President BCCI Rajiv Shukla told PTI.
“Until now there are no other players who have been tested positive.
You also have to realize our Secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to all players to maintain the protocol,” Shukla added.
It is understood that the Pant has suffered a Delta variant which has led to the increasing number of cases in the UK.
He was seen attending the Euro Championship match last month and even posted images on his social media account.
He underwent a test after experiencing low-level fever.
Shah, in his letter, told the players to “avoid” crowded places as covishield, vaccines that have been given to the team, only provide protection, not full immunity to the virus.
In fact, Shah’s letter specifically stated that the player had to avoid going to the Wimbledon and Euro championship, both of which recently concluded there.
The Indian team will be taken in England in the five-match test series starting 4.
August will play a training game starting July 20 as a buildup of up to high intensity series.
The Indian-English exhibition marks the beginning of the second cycle of the world test championship.
Recently, the British team was also hit by a virus and was forced to involve XI which was completely different in a limited match against Pakistan.
