Mumbai: Police Mumbai has forcibly retired Senior Inspector Gulab Patil from the Dharavi Police Station quoting that he will retire last year, but continue to remain in service because of “administrative errors”.
Patil, however, claimed that he would retire in March 2022.
He had continued his service sheet to the Director of the State of Police General to be reviewed.
According to Mumbai police, the administrative error was revealed in May when the Department wanted to send a patil service sheet to the DGP office because he would promote the rank of assistant commissioner police (ACP), but could not find it.
Police officers have two necessions – service sheets and gradation lists.
Service sheets are sent to the DGP office every time an officer will promote.
“We want to send patil service sheets to DGP, but cannot be traced,” said Rajkumar Watkar, Commissioner with the police (administration).
“So, we started digging and after a long time found a record from the Office of the State Intelligence Department, where he was previously posted.
According to the record, he should retire in March 2020.
Therefore, the administrative decision was taken and he was asked to retire on July 31 , “he added.
On August 1, Senior Inspector Vijay Mane was responsible for the Dharavi Police Station.
But Patil insisted that it was a case of technical errors.
“I have found my note and has sent it to the DGP office.
According to service sheets, now I have to promote the rank of ACP now and to retire in 2022,” he told toi.
