New Delhi: The West Bengal government has approached the Supreme Court against the Calcutta High Court order directing the CBI probe into the incident of violence after the poll in the state.
Expressing a lack of confidence in the central body, the government of Bengal said that the CBI acted on the central commandment and targeting the functioning of the powerful Trinamool Congress.
The CBI has registered 31 cases related to alleged violence after the poll in West Bengal so far.
The Calcutta High Court on August 19 ordered the CBI probe “monitored by the court” into the murder case, rape and tried rape during the poll process in West Bengal and established a special investigation team under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge to investigate other criminal cases.

The court has also ordered an investigation of NHRC (Human Rights Commission) on charges of human rights violations in the state after the poll.
The NHRC report charged the government of Mamata Banerjee, and said the situation in the country was the manifestation of the “law of the ruler” rather than “legal rules.” The Trinamool Congress has alleged that the center uses his agent to target its leaders.
Incidentally, the Directorate of Enforcement had called Abhishek Banerjee-Mamata Banerjee’s Nephew and Diamond Harbor MP- and his wife to be questioned in the case of money laundering related to the alleged coal fraud in West Bengal.
