Tamil Nadu may have a 69% reservation, but it does not reflect representation in the field.
For almost a decade of at least 30,000 posts provided for the scheduled castes (SC) lying in various government departments in Tamil Nadu, several sources were confirmed to TOI.
This, according to employee associations and activists, demonstrates the lack of willingness to implement reservation policies in work in the government sector.
Repeated demands and protests to attract the attention of higher authorities do not produce results.
“Vacancies in our department remain not filled for several years now,” said an officer in the Department of Welfare Adi Dravidar and Tribal.
Recognizing anomalies, a senior officer in the Department of Welfare Adi Dravidar said they had issued a circle asking the scavengers and the district head of each government department to provide details of empty posts.
