Tamil Nadu may have a 69% reservation, but it does not reflect representation in the field.
For almost a decade of at least 30,000 posts provided for the scheduled castes (SC) lying in various government departments in Tamil Nadu, several sources were confirmed to TOI.
This, according to employee associations and activists, demonstrates the lack of willingness to implement reservation policies in work in the government sector.
Repeated demands and protests to attract the attention of higher authorities do not produce results.
“Vacancies in our department remain not filled for several years now,” said an officer in the Department of Welfare Adi Dravidar and Tribal.
Recognizing anomalies, a senior officer in the Department of Welfare Adi Dravidar said they had issued a circle asking the scavengers and the district head of each government department to provide details of empty posts.
“We have started exercise.
We will immediately begin the data compilation process,” the officer said with anonymity requirements.
“The government is committed to filling vacancies through a special encouragement,” he said, given such guarantees in the address of the governor in the Kiddah Assembly recently.
Tamil Nadu reservation policy determines that 18% of the 69% quota must be provided for SCS in the recruitment process.
Recruitment agents such as the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission and the Teacher Recruitment Council have failed to maintain a quota, said source.
Secretary General of VCK and MP D Ravikumar said 14,317 teaching and 4,643 non-teaching posts for SCS in higher education institutions remained unfined.
“Job headers grow every year.
The situation is no better in other departments,” MP said.
He said he had submitted a petition to the Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi to see large feedback.
Quoting RTI to the query, the Kargaiiah from the Tamil Nadu Dalit Liberation Movement said 27,264 Posting vacancies intended for SCS lay empty in 2019.
“Now the number will exceed 30,000.
There is no one denying the oppressed opportunities for the oppressed part of the Land Periyar (EV Ramasamy) and Anna (CN Annadurai), “he said.
A large number of petitions to special ministerial heads, Minister of SC / ST and the official department concerned under the previous regime had no effect.
In March this year, the Center has revealed that at least 42,000 posts provided for SC and scheduled tribes and other back castes have been lying in various union ministries.
Members of the Action Council with Tamil Nadu teacher organization and government employees said the government’s incompetence in filling up vacancies replaced reservation policies intended to ensure social justice.
They recorded a reservation policy also not followed in promotion.
“Police, education, and two other departments followed the reservation policy for promotion, while all government departments followed the service rules.
This must be taken too,” another official said.
