Pune: Some trains, including three plying between Mumbai and Pune, were canceled after heavy rains triggered several landslides disrupting train movements along the southeast and Northeast on Thursday.
A central train official told Toi that Boulders fell on the railway because heavy landslides and logging occurred in many places in the Southeast Ghat section before Karjat.
The official said the restoration work in the active part of Ghat at full speed.
The Northeast Ghat part between Kalyan and Igatpuri (Kasara Ghat) also witnessed similar conditions due to heavy and sustainable rain.
Railroad officials said the section had been restored for the train movement after afternoon.
